Quantum Hall effects. Field theoretical approach and related topics (English)
0 references
The book is devoted to the field theoretical aspects of the quantum Hall effects, both integer and fractional. It treats some new concepts related to the subject: composite particles (boson or fermion), condensation of the two-dimensional electron gas, topological solitons in the quantum Hall condensate, skyrmions. Some attention is given to the algebraic problems of the quantum Hall systems. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe book comprises four parts. the first part is a brief summary of quantum field theory which is necessary for understanding the quantum Hall effects. The second and the third parts are devoted to monolayer and bilayer quantum Hall systems respectively. Algebraic questions are considered in the fourth part. The book is written clearly and can serve as a self-contained introduction to the modern theory of the quantum Hall effect. It is useful for students and researchers in condensed matter physics, particle and mathematical physics.
