Schmüdgen's representation theorem
0 references
The authors investigate the famous Schmüdgen's representation theorem [\textit{K. Schmüdgen}, Math. Ann. 289, No.~2, 203-206 (1991; Zbl 0744.44008)]. As a consequence of the characterisation theorem (theorem 3.2 in the paper) they detect the ``gap'' between Schmüdgen's representation and another one given by \textit{M. Putinar} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 42, No.~3, 969-984 (1993; Zbl 0796.12002)]. The authors give an example showing that their characterisation theorem implies the best possible representation.
