It is shown that if \(A\) is a separable simple \(C^*\)-algebra then for every nonzero \(a\in A\) there is a separable irreducible \(*\)-representation \((\pi, H_\pi)\) such that \(\pi(a)\) has nontrivial invariant subspaces.
