In this paper, the authors extend some previous results by \textit{M.V. Solodov} and \textit{P. Tseng} [SIAM J. Control Optimization 34, No. 5, 1814-1830 (1996; Zbl 0866.49018)] and \textit{P. Tseng} [J. Comput. Appl. Math. 60, No. 1-2, 237-252 (1995; Zbl 0835.65087)], on the monotone variational inequality problem, to the class of strongly pseudo-monotone functions.
