Symplectic methods for the symplectic eigenproblem (English)
0 references
The book deals with methods for solving special nonsymmetric eigenvalue problems; the symplectic eigenvalue problem. The symplectic eigenvalue problem is helpful in analyzing a number of different questions that arise in linear control theory for discrete time systems. Applications arise, e.g., in finite element discretizations in structural analysis, in acoustic simulation of poro-elastic materials, or in elastic deformation of anisotropic materials. Here efficient and structure-preserving numerical methods for the symplectic eigenproblem are developed. All algorithms are presented in MATLAB style. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate their abilities.
