The technique of \(M\)-regions and cap coverings: A survey (English)
0 references
The subject of this survey paper are two related important techniques for the quantitative analysis of convex bodies in Euclidean spaces: the technique of Macbeath regions, introduced by Macbeath in 1952, and the method of economic cap coverings, invented by Ewald, Larman and Rogers in 1970. The author, who has substantially developed and used these two techniques, demonstrates their power by describing applications in various contexts such as the following: the (fine) boundary structure of convex bodies, mean values of functionals of random polytopes and floating bodies, half-space range searching, lattice polytopes, and measures of approximation of convex bodies by polytopes.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0948.00038].
