Interfacial fluid dynamics (English)
0 references
This survey introduces the fundamental ideas of interfacial fluid dynamics which gives an adequate flow description when interfacial forces, such as surface tension, are dominant. First, the author discusses how the continuum model of thin interface can be rationalized. Then films and spreading drops are examined in terms of dynamics and instability by using lubrication theory. A thorough study of singular behaviour of rupture and coalescence concludes the review. Many of the examples which illustrate the above ideas are taken from modern technological processes, e.g. coating or falling films.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEContents: 1. Introduction; 2.
