The authors introduce weak entwining structures and weak entwining modules, obtaining notions which unify Brzeziński and Majid's entwining modules and Böhm's weak Doi-Hopf modules. It is shown that the functor forgetting action or coaction has an adjoint, then the weak smash product is introduced, and it is dicussed how weak bialgebras can be used to construct weak entwining structures.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0955.00038].
