Elliptic functions in elementary analysis (English)
0 references
Along with historical remarks, some elementary properties of the elliptic integrals are mentioned: definitions, series expansions and inversions. Next, the differential equation \(x''+Ax+ Bx^3=0\) is considered, and the solutions are discussed by means of the phase plane. Finally, two classical examples are given: the arc length of the ellipse and the period of the simple pendulum.
