This second volume, Evolutionary Computation 2: Advanced Algorithms and Operators, provides very interesting information and updated material on additional topics. It also covers some advanced techniques and discusses the efficient implementation of evolutionary algorithms. Written by 27 authors the following topics are discussed: Fitness evaluation (encoding and decoding functions, competitive and complexity-based fitness evaluation, and multiobjective optimization), constraint-handling techniques (among others penalty functions, decoders, repair algorithms, and constraint-handling methods), population structures (for instance niching methods, speciation methods, and diffusion models), advanced techniques (population sizing , mutation parameters parameter control, self-adaption and other techniques). In Part 5 the efficient implementation, the computation time, and hardware realizations of evolutionary algorithms are discussed.
