Black holes, wormholes and time machines. (English)
0 references
This is a popular book on general relativity and cosmology including black hole physics. Also, the history of these subjects is described, and a valuable list of references, including both popular and advanced levels, is attached.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEA time machine is connected with the existence of closed time-like curves within relativistic space-time. Contrary to general believe, the existence of such curves does not always prevent the whole space-time to suffer from a lack of causality. Hence, the discussion of the details of time machines represents also a mathematically non-trivial topic. Also, the book contains several nice figures to help understanding properties of relativity theory.
