Functional equations in the behavioral sciences (English)
0 references
The paper contains an interesting exposition of use of functional equations in the behavioral sciences. After the introduction, in Section 2 some basic functional equations (Cauchy, Pexider and invariance equation) are presented with their regular solutions. Section 3 is dedicated to some problems arising in psychophysics and their modelization via functional equations. Section 4 treats utility theory, in particular some problems concerning binary gambles, while the topic presented in the last section of the paper is consistent aggregation, which leads to the generalized bisymmetry functional equation. Solutions to these problems are presented and an ample bibliography guides the reader interested to know in more details the topics touched in the paper.
