The nonlinear quantitative feedback theory design technique seeks to design robust controllers based on a set of equivalent linear time-invariant plant models. Under conditions elaborated upon in the paper, the solution to the robust linear equivalent problem is also a solution to the nonlinear problem. The paper reviews and expands the early work of Horowitz and others on existence proofs and the design method based on this approach.
