Entropy in control engineering (English)

This mathematical tract (132 pp, 8 chapters) is more or less a selection of some of its author's previous papers on the possible use of Jaynes maximum entropy principle (maxent principle) in control engineering. After a background on the maxent, one applies the latter to stochastic optimal estimation and control. Then a review of intelligent control systems is displayed, and an entropy formulation of motion control and an entropy measure of vision systems are proposed. Then one shows that reliability can be considered as an entropy. Finally one considers entropic models in intelligent manufacturing and in the control of ecosystems. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe major defect of this book is that its bibliography is by far too incomplete. If one follows its conclusion, one could think that the main idea of the book is new, but this is quite controversial. There are a number of interesting original papers by other authors on the same topic (control, estimation, large-scale systems,\dots) and it would be nice to mention them, at least to have the pleasure of destroying them if they are ridiculous.
