This book is essentially a monograph on functional analysis in view of applications. The aim of the authors is to combine clarity, simplicity and rigor. Most of the concepts or results of functional analysis are illustrated by simple applications to differential equations or probability. Some of them are related to quite up-to-date topics like dynamical systems or wavelets. Each chapter is followed by a sequence of exercises. This makes the book attractive to students in mathematics, physics or engineering.
