The authors show that, up to isomorphism, there are exactly 2408 cyclic bi-embeddings of Steiner triple systems on \(31\) points in an orientable surface. They also discuss the relationship of the bi-embeddings to solutions of Heffter's first difference problem and describe a procedure which, under certain conditions, transforms one bi-embedding to another.
