The author investigates the equation NEWLINE\[NEWLINEx''(t)+ 2a(t) x'(t)+ b(t) x(t)= \sum^n_{i=1} c_i(t) x(t- T_i),\quad t\geq 0,NEWLINE\]NEWLINE (and related equations) and obtains asymptotic estimates for \(|x(t)|\), \(|x'(t)|\). In addition to continuity hypotheses on \(a\), \(b\), \(c_i\), certain monotonicity properties on \(m(t)\) (defined as \(b(t)- a^2(t)- a'(t)\)) are imposed.
