Asymptotic spatio-temporal properties of laminar boundary layer over curved surfaces (English)

The author investigates the effect of centrifugal forces on transitional boundary layers as well as the spatiotemporal properties of boundary layer vortical structures. It has been shown that in the case of boundary layer flows under centrifugal forces the small parameter depending on the value of these forces can be introduced. Using methods of matching asymptotic expansions, the scenarios of the boundary layer development (including transition processes from 2D to 3D) in terms of space scales of their vortical structures have been proposed. In particular, the knowledge about formation mechanisms of 3D vortical structures in boundary layers and spatio-temporal properties of 2D and 3D vortical structures depending on basic flow parameters are obtained.
