The authors consider enveloping \(C^*\)-algebras of \(*\)-algebras given by generators and defining relations of the form NEWLINE\[NEWLINE A=\mathbb C\langle X,X ^*:\;XX^*=f(X^*X)\rangle, NEWLINE\]NEWLINE where \(f\) is a real polynomial. Under certain conditions upon the dynamical system \((f,\mathbb R)\) the algebra is proved to be of type I.
