Symmetry-breaking bifurcations in a single-mode class-A gas laser (English)

The author studies the invariance properties and bifurcations in a mathematical model of single-mode class-A gas laser. This model is governed by a quite complicated 3-dimensional system of ODEs. Under certain assumptions of physical character the author describes such interesting phenomena ~occurring in the system as: pitchfork bifurcation of stationary points, symmetry-breaking bifurcations of periodic solution, creation and destruction of 2-d tori. Much attention is paid to the physical interpretation of the results obtained.
