A method to construct soliton solutions for a large class of nonlinear systems is presented. The main result of this letter is the construction of the Darboux-Bäcklund transformation for the spectral problem without using matrix representations. The spectral problem is represented in terms of Clifford numbers. The Dirac equation for a massless particle in the electromagnetic field is considered as an applicative example.
