Introducing a notion of the \(\chi\)-class of bounded linear operators \(T\) on a Hilbert space which contains hyponormal operators, the authors study their spectral properties related to the Weyl spectrum. By the Weyl spectrum of \(T\) they mean the complement in the complex plane of the set of all complex numbers \(\lambda\) for which \(T-\lambda I\) is Fredholm of index zero.
