This paper presents a study of nonlinear coordinate transformations in the numerical integration of weakly singular boundary integrals. This study includes the comparison of the smoothing property, the numerical convergence and accuracy, the effectiveness of generalized transformations, and the connection between the maximum permissible order of polynomial transformation and the precision of computations. In addition, the authors propose a new approach which combines the method of singularity subtraction with nonlinear transformations.
