Implicit-explicit multistep finite element methods for nonlinear convection-diffusion problems (English)

Solution by implicit-explicit multistep finite element methods of an initial-boundary value problem for a nonlinear parabolic partial differential equation is considered. The space discretization is done by finite element methods whereas the discretization in time is based on linear multistep schemes. It is demonstrated that the schemes under consideration are stable and efficient. Optimal order error estimates are derived as well.
