Let \(\Lambda\) be a locally maximal hyperbolic set for a diffeomorphism \(f\). The author studies variational properties of the dimension spectrum of equilibrium measures on \(\Lambda\) under perturbations either of the diffeomorphism \(f\) (so that a measure \(\mu\) remains invariant) or of the measure \(\mu\) (for the fixed \(f\)). The results are applied in the investigation of multifractal rigidity (for example, for horseshoes).
