On an H. G. Zeuthen's interpretation (English)
0 references
As an argument against an extreme antiquarism in the history of mathematics, the author shows that an interpretation of \textit{H. G. Zeuthen} [Die Lehre von den Kegelschnitten im Altertum, Kopenhagen (1886; JFM 17.0029.04)] for Greek geometrical algebra, which was given with reference to 19th century modern mathematics, is in accordance with a comment, Proclus Diadochus has given for a fragment of Platon's ``Republic''.
