The paper is devoted to certain aspects of the so-called ``Luzin affair'' from the 1930's. In particular, some interesting material is included: a 1931 letter by E. Kolman urging the initiation of a case against Luzin, a 1936 letter by L. Mekhlis urging that Luzin be included in the Bukharin-Rykov affair. These documents shed new light on the problem.
