The paper is devoted to J. V. Poncelet and his stay in Saratov where he was taken prisoner after Napoleon's invasion on Russia. The authors found an old notebook in which Poncelet wrote his first ideas on projective geometry. In the paper the notebook and published texts of Poincelet are compared and some disparities between them indicated.
