The book is an introduction to \textit{P. Gy}'s theory of sampling bulk material: solids, liquids or gases. Basic principles of sampling are given at an elementary level, using intuitive explanations. Many examples of simple experiments are presented. The handbook will be useful for graduate students in courses on sampling as well as consultants in statistics, environmental sciences and industrial or chemical engineering.
