The authors attempt to investigate the values of Trigrha-maurvi (sinus totus, the complete or total sine) adopted by ancient Indian mathematicians for the standard table of Sine -- difference between 5th and 14th centuries.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe present day sine of an angle is the ratio of the opposite side to the hypotenuse in a right angled triangle. The ancient Indian sine of an arc was half the length of the chord of double the arc in a circle of reference. The radius of the circle thus became Trigrha-maurvi.
