The paper deals with the problem of a blunt solid impact and immersion into a compressible liquid. It is assumed that the body moves perpendicularly to the resting liquid surface. The liquid is assumed weightless, barotropic and ideally compressible. The elevation of the liquid surface around the immersing solid is not taken into account. A numerical solution of the problem is discussed.
