The author provides a brief survey of results on determining the exact solutions to mixed plane problems of linearized mechanics of deformed bodies in the framework of mechanics of brittle fracture of materials with the initial stresses along the cracks (static problems, the models of compressible and incompressible elastic bodies), contact problems for bodies with the initial stresses, dynamic problems of brittle fracture mechanics, contact interaction of elastic bodies with the initial stresses, problems of stability of two body interface at compression along the cracks.
