Theory of sets or set of theories? (English)
0 references
This is a paper on the foundations of set theory, written in disconcertingly high-flown and precious language. The main themes seem to be the contrast between model-theoretic and proof-theoretic (syntactic) methods, and between formalism and platonism. The imputations of formalism and platonism sometimes seem very debatable. The themes are discussed in a very general way in connection with V = L, forcing, and large cardinals.
