This is a very important and useful monograph dealing with biomechanics. The main parts are related to solid mechanics, calorimetrics, fluid mechanics and similarities. A big number of examples concerning biology are presented, especially dealing with animal mechanics, fluid mechanics of biological surfaces and fluid dynamics of drug, biophysics of bird flight, as well as the aerodynamic basis of insect flight. A number of examples are devoted to the flight dynamics: flight of the honney bee, pigeon filght in a wind tunnel, quick estimates of flight fitness in hovering animals, including novel mechanics for lift production.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEEach chapter contains a number of numerical exercises and the solutions are given at the end of the book. The textbook is very useful for researcher in biosciences, particularly in zoology, technical biology nad bionik, as well as for those in technical mechanics.
