Textbook of functional analysis. A problem-oriented approach (English)

The present book on functional analysis consists of seven chapters. The first four of them deal with the fundamentals of normed linear spaces, Banach spaces, duals and spectral notions. The remaining three chapters cover inner product spaces, Hilbert spaces, bounded operators and spectral theory in Hilbert spaces.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe book is student-oriented. It does not use the ``lemma-theorem-proof-corollary'' style. Each section begins with an introduction in which the basic concepts are given briefly. It is followed by some exercists involving simple applications of these concepts. The problems and solutions are given after this. The solutions are written out in detail so that an average student can follow them. Almost all the standard results, as, e.g., the Hahn-Banach Theorem, the Uniform Boundedness Principle, and various versions of the Spectral Theorem, are presented in this form.
