The authors construct a family of almost quaternionic Hermitian structures from an almost contact metric 3-structure. Similarly they construct three kinds of quaternionic Kähler structures from a Sasakian 3-structure. A generalization of the result of \textit{C.P. Boyer, K. Galicki} and \textit{B. M. Mann} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 455, 183-220 (1994; Zbl 0889.53029)] is obtained.
