The Hecke group \(H(\sqrt 5)\) is generated by the two linear fractional transformations \(R\colon z\mapsto-\tfrac 1z\) and \(T\colon z\mapsto z+\sqrt 5\). The authors study in detail some normal subgroups of \(H(\sqrt 5)\).
