Quadratic Lie algebras and dipolarizations (English)

The authors study the structure of quadratic Lie algebras whose Cartan subalgebras consist of semisimple elements. In the solvable case, it is shown that dipolarizations exist. Among the other results one finds a generalization of characteristic elements to the algebras under consideration.
