The main purpose of this paper is to test the performance of Lie group integrators as applied to a semidiscrete version of the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation and to discuss which features of the infinite-dimensional problem should be maintained in the semidiscrete system in order to apply these time integration strategies.
