The authors look at permutation polynomials of the form \(x^r f(x^s)\) over finite fields of \(q\) elements with \(s|(q-1)\). Their main goal is to give a group theoretic criterion for this family. They indicate how this leads in a canonical way to the concept of group permutation polynomials of a subgroup of \(F_q^*\).
