Pietro d'Abano's \textit{Lucidator dubitabilium astronomiae,} written in the early 14th century, is an evidence for the important role of Arabic astronomy in the history of medieval science in the western world. It is a convincing document of the critical attitude of islamic scientists towards the classical astronomical theories that go back to Aristotle's \textit{De caelo} and Ptolemy's \textit{Almagest}. In the appendix of this paper, the author presents some excerpts from Pietro d'Abano's text that refer to Arabic astronomers like Jabir ibn Aflah (Geber), al-Battani, al-Farghani (Alfraganus), and al-Bitruji (Alpetragius).NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0959.00025].
