The author is interested in the three distance theorem [see \textit{V. Sós}, Ann. Univ. Sci. Budap. Rolando Eötvös, Sect. Math. 1, 129-134 (1958; Zbl 0094.02903) (this important reference is missing in the bibliography)] and \textit{S. Świerczkowski} [Fundam. Math. 46, 187-189 (1959; Zbl 0085.27203)] in the case where there are only two distinct distances. She obtains nice results connected to continued fractions, morphisms of the free monoid and balanced words.
