The authors deal with two-valued functions \(f: R\to\{0,1\}\). In such a case the notion of the weak symmetry (resp., the weak symmetric continuity) can be formulated in the following way: There exists a sequence \(\{h_n\}\), \(h_n\to 0\), such that \(f(x+ h_n)= f(x- h_n)= f(x)\) (resp., \(f(x+ h_n)= f(x- h_n)\)) for each \(n\). The main result of the paper asserts that there is no \(f: R\to \{0,1\}\) which is nowhere weakly symmetric. It is also shown that if \(T_x= \{h> 0: f(x- h)= f(x)= f(x+ h)\}\) \((S_x= \{h> 0: f(x- h)= f(x+ h)\})\), then there exists a function \(f: R\to \{0,1\}\) such that \(T_x\) \((S_x)\) is countable for every \(x\in R\) if and only if the continuum hypothesis holds.
