Multiwavelets have revealed to be a successful generalization in the context of wavelet theory. In this paper, the authors present some developments and applications of multiwavelet-based technique and overview multiwavelet theory and construction of a special class of multiwavelets. The applications of multiwavelets to image compression and curve characterization associated to cellular profiles are considered.
