Numerical solution of some problems in tomography (English)

Some results obtained in the analysis and solution of emission tomography problems by means of truncated Krylov subspace methods are reported. The conjugate gradient iterations are applied as an inner solver of the Tikhonov regularization method. Several heuristics are tested as stopping rules for the iterations and the behaviour of the residual and solution norms are analyzed. The results obtained with simulated data and real acquisitions are reported in the applications section. The parallel version of the algorithms is developed for distributed memory MIMD machines in order to reduce the computational time. Some results obtained with a parallel application running on Cray T3E are described.
