Conservative methods for ordinary differential equations on quadratic groups (English)

A class of methods is described in the context of solving orthogonal differential systems, ordinary differential equations on Stiefel manifold, isospectral flows, the calculation of Lyapunov exponents of dynamical systems, Hamiltonian differential systems and the orthogonal Procustes problem. The methods are based on Cayley transform. The class can be extended to that of quadratic groups including symplectic and Lorentz group.
