Rational spline interpolation to monotonic data (English)
0 references
The author studies the interpolation of monotonic data by rational \(C^1\)-splines with linear numerators and linear denominators. It is shown that for any strictly monotonic data there exists a unique strictly monotonic interpolant. The construction of this interpolant requires the iterative solution of a nonlinear system by the Gauss-Seidel or Newton method.
