Foundations of oscillation technique. Kinematics, modelling, one-degree-of-freedom systems (English)

The book presents basic mathematical methods of vibration theory. It is intended as a textbook for mechanical engineering (engineering science) students. In volume 1, the author treats systems that are modeled as one-degree-of-freedom oscillators. The problems of damping, forced vibration, resonance, vibration isolation, to mention just few, are treated in detail. Special attention is devoted to the modeling, and the author presents many interesting, non trivial, examples of mechanical systems leading to single degree-of-freedom equations. An appendix contains a review of mathematical formulae and detailed solution of problems treated in text. The book is well written. It is an excellent introduction that will stimulate students' interest in the vibration theory.
