The structure of the space of compactly supported biorthogonal wavelets is investigated. The biortogonal wavelet matrix pair (which consists of the scaling filters and the wavelet filters) is factorized, and the result is compared to the case of orthogonal wavelets. As a result, a method to convert a biorthogonal wavelet into an orthogonal wavelet is obtained.
