Vibroacoustic method of free oscillations for nondestructive crack testing (Q2719379)

This paper proceeds the authors' investigations [see \textit{L.~M.~Gelman} and \textit{S.~V.~Gorpinich}, J. Acoust. Soc. Am 103, No.~5, Pt.~2, 2949 (1998)]. The authors present the results of the experimental study of the vibroacoustic method of free oscillations analysis for fatigue cracks testing. Obtained is the expression for the damping coefficient of free oscillations of nonlinear one-mass model with crack. It is discovered that the damping coefficient may either increase or decrease depend ing on the crack development.
